Kamala Harris Energizes Key Voting Groups Ahead of 2024 Election Cycle

Vice President Kamala Harris is preparing to lead a series of high-profile events over the course of a month to mobilize key voting groups and energize the Democratic Party ahead of the 2024 election cycle. Her itinerary includes stops at several conferences, including the annual convention of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition in Chicago and Delta Sigma Theta’s conference in Indianapolis, which will connect her with historically Black sororities.

She will also address conferences of Unidos US, a major Hispanic advocacy group, the NAACP in Boston, the Women’s Missionary Society of the African Methodist Episcopal Church in Orlando, and Everytown for Gun Safety in Chicago. Each of these stops is part of her official White House portfolio, highlighting her work on pivotal issues that impact the wellbeing of the American people, but they also play into the Biden re-election effort’s strategy to energize key pillars of the Democratic Party.

According to a Biden adviser, Harris' travel reflects hitting on some of the most important issues Americans care about right now and hitting some of the most important constituencies to the Biden-Harris coalition, from young people to Latinos. The itinerary is reminiscent of Harris' similar schedule with key groups ahead of the midterm elections a year ago, part of a strategy with the president that sought to capitalize on the Dobbs decision and Republican-led efforts to change election laws.

Harris' travel comes as the GOP presidential nominating fight is ramping up, with a major Iowa Republican Party dinner later this month and the traditional campaign blitz around the Iowa State Fair in August.

Harris' campaign chief of staff, Sheila Nix, will play a major role in setting Harris' political travel schedule and sharpening her message on the campaign trail as 2024 kicks into high gear.
